Nicknamed “Mimosa Island” thanks to its exceptional microclimate, Noirmoutier, genuine & unspoilt island, is a seaside paradise for nature lovers.
The attractiveness of Noirmoutier is due to its unusual access: “The Passage du Gois”, a periodically flooded path (4.5km). It’s one of the island's must-see curiosities. During low tide you can travel the path to reach Beauvoir-sur-Mer and fish for clams, oysters and cockles. There is also a modern toll-free bridge linking the mainland to Noirmoutier.

Noirmoutier offers quality products with its oysters and other shellfish, potatoes such as the famous"Bonnotte", his natural salt & sea asparagus. Salt marshes cover 1/3 of the island. You can visit the marshes all summer long and at the beginning of autumn. The many salt huts along the roads also attract their fair share of visitors.. The salt harvest is an artisan trade which follows traditional methods.
