The best way to see the Vendée in a big way

For holidaymakers… who are not afraid of heights. Every summer, the panoramic Ferris wheel shines on the Esplanade de la Mer, opposite the beach in Saint-Jean-de-Monts. The big lady is 40 metres above the ground. It can be seen for miles around and is a landmark in the Pays de Monts.

Three laps, ten minutes of fun, with a stop at the top for photos. There’s a 360-degree view of the town, the embankment, the national forest, the beach and the ocean. In the distance, you can see the wind turbines at Bouin, Saint-Hilaire-de-Riez, Saint-Gilles-de-Riez and even Ile d’Yeu on a clear day. Inside the small cabins, you’ll feel right at home. There’s room for a family of six.

Numbers that make your head spin!

  • The Ferris wheel is 40 metres high. Enough to make acrophobes (those afraid of heights) shudder. A convoy of six semi-trailers is needed to transport the 120 tonnes of equipment.
  • 150 is the number of passengers the Ferris wheel can accommodate in its 26 cabins. The ride even features a VIP cabin, where champagne is served! The ride also has a gondola for people with reduced mobility.
  • 200,000 is the number of LEDs (light-emitting diodes) that illuminate the structure at night. It’s one of the first wheels in France to be fully illuminated.
  • 3 turns on the Ferris wheel, lasting 10 minutes, to take in the sights.
