The history of the St Jean de Monts boom
Discover the history of this pier… Inaugurated in 1967, this 400-metre pier was built to set the town apart from other seaside resorts. It’s a unique feature in the Vendée, and one that has contributed to Saint Jean de Monts’ reputation.
Unfortunately, the storms of 1987 and winter 1990 destroyed dozens of meters of the pier. As a result, the town of Saint Jean de Monts decided to rebuild a new boom, identical to the first and inaugurated in 2013!
