Notre Dame de Monts
Visit Notre-Dame-de-Monts (Pays de la Loire, France)
The small sea resort of Notre-Dame-de-Monts is situated on the coast of Vendee at only 15 min from St Jean de Monts.
Notre-Dame-de-Monts has two separate parts: the village with shops & church and the beach & seaside facilities about one kilometer walk from the Centre.
In the town itself, a short distance west of the church a popular attraction is the Moulin du Vent, a traditional windmill that is visited for the gardens established around the base of the windmill.
Heading west between the town and the beach you cross a small area of forest. This forest is the southern tip of the Forêt Domaniale des Pays de Monts, a quite extensive area of forest that is popular with cyclists and walkers.
- About 3 kilometers north-east of Notre-Dame-de-Monts (follow the D82) there is a water tower at Kulmino where a lift and balcony have been installed. There is a panoramic view across the region from the top of the 70 meters high tower (admission payable).
- About 1 kilometers from the center you can find Biotopia: Exploring of the 5 senses throughout an exhibition & explanation about the biodiversity of the country & its coastline (admission payable).
- Le Jardin du Vent: animations & games around the wind
- Ecomuseum Daviaud: Situated at the heart of the Vendee swamp, the Eco museum of Daviaud invites you to discover the Vendee heritage. An exceptional ecological wealth. Real ornithological spot, it is an ideal place of observation for all the enthusiasts of birds and nature.
It’s all about WIND: sand yachting, sailing, and beach. Water activities (sailing, canoeing, and kite) are also celebrated at Notre Dame de Monts with one of the most successful swimming complex on the Atlantic coast and with a big Wind Festival in summer period.
